A U.S. fishing boat manufacturer is known throughout the United States for its innovative approach to product design lean manufacturing and responsive customer service since its start three years ago. The mission statement of the company is We will provide the most innovative customer-driven design and growth in the industry. The founders ideals for the company are described in the vision statement: We will be the most sustainable company in the industry. The companys ethical statement that guides all conduct and decision-making is We will make decisions that are sustainable for customers and the environment. The companys founders have created an organizational culture of innovation. They have provided incentives for employees creative ideas and created testing laboratories where customers use the products and provide design feedback. The founders have also invited innovators in other industries such as gaming and information technology to improve on the designs. The founders have cultivated a company culture in which employees and founders are considered equal partners. The company structure is decentralized and all employees can access the founders at any time for collaboration shared decision-making or relationship building. All company decisions are evaluated by all employees to ensure that everyone is committed to the decisions. The company has identified an emerging global market opportunity in India for its products. Successful sales in India could represent a critical moment for the company if the company establishes strategic partnerships that will increase the likelihood of product success. The founders hope to capture profits and market share and expand into other parts of Asia within the first year of selling products in India. Research indicates market potential for the companys sales in India because of the importance of the fishing industry in the country. Fishing and aquaculture are primary industries in the coastal regions of India. Economic zones have been established to support the over 14 million people who are an important part of the fishing industry. This industry makes up 1% of the nations gross domestic product and 7% of global fish exports (Hanko Hackberry Group n.d.). The companys goal of the market expansion into India is to be the first foldable fishing boat manufacturer reaching the country. An origami-inspired foldable fishing boat is the companys most popular product. This boat comes designed as a plastic carrying case that unfolds into the water like an origami paper boat. This boat is suitable for uses in calm water and the boat can be recycled. The product retails for U.S.$. Traditional fishers use nonmechanized boats which would be ideal for the foldable boats entry into the market. Laws and regulations surrounding the use of nonmechanized boats favor importing foldable boats which would be easy for fishers to carry from home to the water. The business climate in India is open to new partnerships to improve the fishing experience for those who preserve the natural ecosystem with nonmotorized boats. The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) promotes the use of natural fishing equipment to reduce disruption to the fishing ecosystem in India (National Fisheries Development Board n.d.). The U.S. boat manufacturers founders met with the NFDB to request an endorsement for their foldable boats because of the products sustainable design and net-zero environmental impact. The founders discovered that the NFDB would only endorse the boat if it was made of plastics used in India in order to reduce the waste products in the nations landfills. This endeavor would require the U.S. company to make a significant investment in India. The company would need to purchase or build a manufacturing facility or it would need to contract with a facility owner to secure a manufacturing location. It would need to employ Indian workers. Lastly the company would have to manufacture a new foldable boat made from used plastics in India with an environmentally friendly waterproof coating. The new foldable boat could be designed in several ways and the company would need to test a series of paper products and waterproof coatings to determine which would be suitable for fishers in India. The fishers range in age from 13 to 70 so the design would need to be comfortable and portable enough for all fishers in this target group. The company decides to hire Indian fishers to help design the product to reach this market. These fishers will provide qualitative open-ended conversations and data that will be valuable in communicating the products features and benefits to other fishers. The product will be tested by a variety of fishers that represent different sectors of the fishing industry different regions and different cultural segments. Testing will provide generalizable qualitative data about the product use and effectiveness. Requirements: A. Reflect on at least two potential risks the company in the given scenario encounters in entering the new market including a detailed description of the impact to the company. B. Conduct a SWOT analysis of the company in the given scenario by doing the following: 1. Identify two internal strengths of the company. 2. Identify two internal weaknesses of the company. 3. Identify two external opportunities for the company. 4. Identify two external threats to the company. C. Identify two strategic recommendations for the company in the given scenario that are based upon the SWOT analysis results in parts B1 through B4. 1. Justify a strategic recommendation from part C by explaining in detail the benefits of the recommendation to the company.

A vehicle driven by Tabitha Antico collided with a truck owned by Sindt Trucking Inc. Antico was killed in the accident. The personal representative of Antico brought a civil wrongful death action against Sindt Trucking. The company denied liability alleging that Antico was either solely or partially at fault for the accident because she was distracted by texting or otherwise using her cellphone while driving. Testimony from two witnesses and responding troopers indicated that Antico had been utilizing her cellphone at the time of the accident. Sindt made a motion to the trial court to permit an expert to inspect the cellphones data including text messages internet website access history and other use of Anticos cellphone on the day of the accident. The plaintiff countered that the discovery would violate Anticos privacy rights. The trial court approved the discovery of the cellphone data limiting the discovery to the 9-hour period preceding and including the time of the accident. Research and discuss the laws that allow courts to authorize exploration into a persons digital footprint in the case of a law suit. a) Current Event Research Paper: One of the best things about studying securitie

a) Current Event Research Paper: One of the best things about studying securities regulation is that the topic is in the news every day. Every day a new company chooses to go public another executive at a public company is charged with violating anti-fraud provisions or another public company is investigated for attempting to bribe foreign government officials. The current event research paper assignment asks that you choose one current event relevant to any of the topics we will study this semester and write a research paper describing what happened the relevant law and the significance of the story for the industry the company the law and/or you. How to choose your current event: The current event must have been in the news within the last year or so. To find a topic of interest start reading the financial and business news now. You might also visit the SECs website for press releases or some of the many blogs on securities regulation white-collar crime or corruption. You can also follow the SEC on Twitter. Once you find a news story you will research it more deeply including the relevant law. Your story does not have to be a case that has gone to court already. It can be an investigation a proposed new rule or regulation or any other story that implicates the legal issues we discuss in class. What to include in your paper: · a detailed description of the current event · a detailed discussion of the relevant law “ explain the law from the very beginning as if your reader knows nothing about the topic; this is how you demonstrate your understanding of the law · an analysis of the current event “ Why is it important to the industry? What companies will care about this news story? What will its impact be? Who will win? Why? You can choose to answer any or all of these questions (or any other question). The goal is to demonstrate meaningful application of law to facts and deep thinking about the issues presented by the news story Logistics: · 8-10 pages single spaced · Citation required anytime what you just wrote down did not originate in your own brain. · The paper should be prepared using the APA writing style and guideline for references format. You must provide a bibliography and all direct quotations and data sources must be properly cited. · The Department uses the APA style to facilitate reading the paper and understanding references without being as cumbersome as some other citation styles (such as Chicago or MLA). · Students can download the student style guide from the American Psychological Association (http://www.apastyle.org/elecref.html) web site or you can purchase the APA style guide from the book store. There is even a help disk that can be purchased for about $ 40 (http://www.apa.org/software/) that will walk you through the process as you write the paper if you desire a more personal assistance. · Papers are to be RESEARCH PAPERS. Remember that work that you use from other authors MUST be referenced. Since it is assumed that you are not an authority on the topic that you are writing it is expected that this paper is an overview of many different sources of information. Each of these must be attributed to the author using the APA format. · This is your paper and not the cut and paste of someone elses work. The internet has led to a false sense of what research is all about. Those new to research tend to think that it means spending an afternoon surfing the internet and then an afternoon cutting from material available. · Keep in mind that the Internet: (1) is not quality oriented as it has good materials and not so good materials and does not know the difference; (2) is NOT a sole source location. In particular sources such as Wikipedia are the works of individual submitters which are not reviewed. Thus while many entries provide excellent information some are fundamentally flawed or just plain wrong. · Keep in mind that the Boston University Library as well as your local state and the national US Library of Congress have extensive online services. USE THEM.

A successful trainer needs to effectively engage various types of trainees and adapt quickly in the learning environment to meet their needs. Chapter 8 of the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text lists and offers tips on dealing with different participant personalities. Review the three scenarios below. Discuss how you would effectively engage and manage each group of participants in a 2-day training seminar. Apply two to three specific adult learning principles and/or techniques to each of the scenarios listed below.Scenario A Your colleague is a training specialist who has just concluded an activity on techniques for overcoming challenges in the classroom. He clearly understood the content but did not ask questions of the group to confirm their understanding. In addition when explaining activities the directions were not clear and there was never an opportunity to ask for clarification. What constructive feedback would you give to your colleague?Scenario B Your colleague is a department manager who has just opened a training session. Her opening included group introductions but she went directly into presenting content. About an hour later a few participants began talking out of turn. What feedback would you give to your colleague on the impact this may have had on participants and what could have been done differently to avoid this situation?Scenario C Your colleague is a human resources manager who just completed an activity followed by a group discussion. The activity went well but the debrief did not. As the facilitator he had trouble getting the group to answer his questions. The group did not appear to be very engaged. What feedback could you give him on how he could get participants to participate?Your initial post should be 250 to 300 words. Use this weeks lecture as a foundation for your initial post. In addition to the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text use at least one additional scholarly source to support your discussion.Requirements: 300 words

A team must select a publicly held company where financial data is readily available. Most publicly held companies have this information readily available. You will need at least 3 years of historical data (5 “ 10 years is preferred). A private company can be used if they provide you access to financial data. Discuss the relationship if any between the economy and industry and the industry and company. Provide an overview of the companys Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats. Please note that Strengths and Weakness are internal Threats are external and Opportunities tend to be a combination of internal Strengths combined with favorable industry/economy factors. There is a difference between Opportunities and Options. Use one of the readily available forecasts of the economy versus trying to develop your own economic forecasting model. Most major industries are forecasted by the government think tanks and/or industry trade groups. Use their information for your forecast of the industry. For the company use historical sales data and perform regression analysis. Regression analysis for most publicly held companies will provide strong R squared and R values to be used in forecasting future sales. In those cases where R squared and R values are too low for forecasting purposes you will have to develop your own methodology to forecast sales. Be sure and explain how you arrive at a forecasted sales value. An abbreviated Pro-forma Income Statement and Balance Sheet is needed. You do no need to encompass all the variables but rather show sales cost of goods sold or cost of services provides and fixed costs. Other noteworthy items can be included if they are significant. Draw conclusions based on your forecast and analysis of the company including the challenges faced by the company and industry. *Our company is Starbucks** *I am responsible for the executive summary only for this project**

A Task Force Plan Your team needs to create a Task Force Plan that will guide the establishment of a task force that functions efficiently virtuously and globally. The plan must be a professional and practical document framed as a proposed solution to the problem. The requirements for the plan include a standard structure but the content of the plan is determined by your PBL team. Course Resources The faculty administrators and instructional designers in the Doctor of Business Administration program have provided several resources in this course and the residency experience as solutions to the problem of establishing PBL teams. In this course you created a Team PBL Plan and have a PBL Team Contract that contains suggested content forsolutions to working through the PBL steps as a team. Use this as a guide for the format of your Task Force Plan. You mayreuse any of the solutions suggested in this course but your plan must show evidence of your teams exploration research andproposal of solutions based on the first two steps. Instructions for Deliverable Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade. You can learn more about the specific skills being assessed by reviewing the links in Problem-Based Learning Resources(new tab). As a team create a practical and professional document formatted as a proposal for establishing a task force in your organization to deal with critical issues. Be sure your proposal addresses the problem thoroughly. The Task Force Plan must follow this structure: Professional Coverub Page List of Contributorsub Table of Contents Executive Summary (one-page that includes the background current state and summary of solution) Organized Sections of Proposed Solutions (for example goals objectives action steps protocols resources definition of terms etc.) References in APA format (for scholarly or practitioner resources that are cited or used within the plan) ubAppendices (OPTIONAL “ attached materials tools documents samples templates etc. that are part of the solution) The Problem-Based Learning Approach This course is set up around a problem; a problem that you will most likely encounter in any organization. In some courses and in your own Applied Doctoral Project (ADP) you will need to identify a problem to solve. In this course however the problem is identified for you. The steps for solving the problem are clearly outlined but the solution is yet to be determined. This approach to learning is not just based on a problem it is also centered on the learners. You as a learner get out of this experience what you put into it. You focus on the areas that are most relevant and applicable. You become an active participant rather than a passive receiver. In problem-based learning the process of learning through problem-solving is as important as the content you learn. The Team Approach As stated in the PBL Team Expectations(new tab)page in the Doctor of Business Administration program teams are a vital part of the learning environment. Every organization requires leaders who know how to work in and lead teams. The kinds of skills learned through teamwork cannot be learned from reading books to writing papers. A team approach values the group over the individual which can be a challenge for the highly independent person. As you engage with your team in this course embrace the opportunities that come with the team approach and communicate your concerns with your instructor who is best position to guide you through this learning journey. Skills in Problem-Based Learning Strategic Analysis(new tab) Critical Thinking Skills(new tab) Synthesis: A Critical Leadership Skill(new tab) Problem Solving Ability(new tab) Understanding Step One in PBL When faced with a problem people usually jump quickly to trying to find solutions to the problem. This is a natural reaction but it is just that; a reaction. It is not a responsive systematic approach to solving the problem. In problem-based learning we purposely take one step at a time to solve the problem. Step One in PBL requires identification and investigation of the problem. Identifying the problem means clearly stating it in its simplest form. Investigating it means systematically examining it to better understand it. The goal of the team for Step One is to establish what is known about the problem. Understanding Step Two in PBL Step Two in our PBL process is where you determine your teams knowledge deficiencies and work to fill in the gaps. In this step you must use your understanding of the problem (from Step One) to determine what you need to learn in order to find a solution. You are not yet exploring or suggesting solutions “ it is not time yet! By working on your teams knowledge deficiencies you are creating a foundation for those solutions so do not get ahead of yourselves. If you have ever been around a young child for very long you will remember that there are a lot of questions being asked. Young children are eager to fill in their gaps and feel no shame in having knowledge deficiencies. They are active learners and seek out new information and experiences intently. Try to approach Step Two this way. Understanding Step Three in PBL What are the potential solutions to the problem? In this step you will propose a solution based on your understanding of the problem and the knowledge you have acquired. There may be multiple solutions or variations of a solution that could potentially solve the problem. Explore the solutions and propose what your team decides together. Understanding Step Four in PBL In this step you must test your solution. Step Four requires a research plan and a test of the solution. In this course the research plan has been developed for you. The research plan describes how you will test the solution. In some of your future courses and in your Applied Doctoral Project (ADP) you will need to develop a research plan on your own and then test the solution. The goal of this step is to find out if your solution will work; to find areas of weakness and strength opportunities for clarification or revision and overall performance results. Understanding Step Five in PBL In Step Five you begin with a solution that holds up to the test and now you are ready to implement it. Teams will rarely be able to implement a solution during a course so this step requiresconsideration of what implementation would look like. Implementing solutions alwaysinvolves change so this step requires creating a Change Management Plan. How should the solution be implemented? Understanding Step Six in PBL The final step in the PBL process is assessment and reflection.A key component of learning is reflection; that is taking time to think about what was learned what went right what went wrong and how an experience has changed your understanding of the topic or content area.Problem solvers can easily get caught up in finding solutions and moving on. Effective problem solvers take time to assess and reflect. Reflection as dialogue Reflection:This term is defined as disciplined systematic and intentional consideration of the sequences of actions and consequences within an individuals experience (Dewey 1933). Reflective dialogue:This term is defined as a back-and-forth conversation in which each participant recognizes the strengths of the other (Knight Knight & Carlson 2015). When learners use dialogue to examine their personal perceptions knowledge beliefs feelings and actions new learning can happen. Dialogue as opposed to monologue allows for a collaborative open examination of each others thinking. It requires open-mindedness and creativity where listening well is as important as speaking clearly. References Dewey J. (1933).How we think: A re-statement of the relation of reflective thinking to the education process.Boston MA: DC Heath & Co. Knight J. Knight J. R. & Carlson C. A strategic plan is a document used to structure and communicate organizational goals. It is also used to mitigate risks and alleviate the potential for legal cases. Barbara receives information that there is an additional more pressing issue at a satellite clinic that is not documented in the original UCCO case. This issue relates to the emergency care clinic which is used to treat patients with trauma-related injuries. The clinic has been over-utilized for the past year resulting in stressed staffing overwhelming costs and decreasing quality of patient care and customer satisfaction. Staff productivity is affected by use of personal cell phones and clinic equipment is often used for social media. In one particular case a 13-year old patient was seen for trauma care by the UCCO Emergency Clinic. The patients parents make it clear to the staff that they are not willing to give consent to any procedure involving blood products or transfusion. The risks are explained to the parents. The patient arrived unconscious but shortly regains consciousness. After the parents leave the room the patient tells the nurse that she is afraid of dying and would like any care including blood procedures and products to save her life. The nurse later finds out that the rejection by the parents was due to religious reasons. The nurse quickly discusses the case with fellow employees one of which posts comments on her social media page using a clinic-owned computer. The nursing director give a verbal warning to all involved nurses and staff. Visit the Rasmussen online Library and search for aminimumof 3 articles covering the topics of ethics healthcare professionalism and federal legislations. Conductacademic researchusing the librarys databases like: CINAHL Discovery Business Source Complete via EBSCO Business via ProQuest In the databases use basic search languages (controlled vocabulary/keywords) to determine ethics laws specific to this situation. Some keywords to consider are healthcare professional code of ethics. Then refine your searches based on your search results. Make sure to include a minimum of 3 credible academic sources in your paper. Using your research address the following points in a minimum of 3-page report: Was the nursing manager legally compliant with to protect patient information? Explain the legal risks and support with federal legislations and professional expectations such as HIPAA and professional codes of ethics. What bearing does the age and religious requests have on the patients case? Are there medical and ethical laws that supersede the parents requests? What is the role and importance of communication among UCCO facilities particularly in reference to compliance and ethical standards? What are the ethical and professional factors of using social media? Were the reactions to the patients case illegal or just unethical? How does this align with UCCOs mission values and strategic action plans? How does it compare to your own personal beliefs and values? Remember to integrate citations accurately and appropriately for all resource types; use attribution (credit) as a method to avoid plagiarism. Use NoodleBib to document your sources and to complete your APA formatted reference page and in-text citations.
